About Us

Dakota West Resource, Conservation & Development Area, Inc. (Dakota West RC&D) was organized in January 1992 as a North Dakota non-profit corporation and is exempt from federal income tax liability under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code, operating in accordance with their Articles and Bylaws. Dakota West serves the Southwest North Dakota Counties of Adams, Billings, Bowman, Dunn, Hettinger, Golden Valley, Slope and Stark.
Dakota West is part of a national program created by Congress in 1962.

Congress formerly appropriated funding for the RC&D Program on an annual basis, and delegated program administration to the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

Dakota West is guided by a five-year Area Plan, from which an Annual Plan of Work is developed each year. Current goals, objectives and strategies guiding the Council’s Plan of Work center around quality of life, leadership, economic development, natural resources conservation, emergency services and natural resource-based development. An Outreach Plan is created to ensure that all programs, services and activities are equitable and made accessible to all. Public review, input and comments are always welcome and you should contact Dakota West for additional information.

All programs and services of the RC&D Councils are offered on a non-discriminatory basis, without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital or family status, disability or political beliefs.
